Battle Royale: Inflation, Deflation, Recession

Recently, the price of almost everything has been on the rise. Inflation, deflation and recession has been the hottest words around nowadays. Therefore, I have come to realization that it is important that I save money and stop squandering them since I do not have a guarantor for an endless supply.

So, how to save money?

1. Wear clothing twice or thrice before washing. The longer, the better.
Save electricity, soap powder and water.
Recommended:
- underwear: two days [unless you are involved in activities that requires you to display them la which I doubt so. Can get infection ah? You can grow your own yeast or use tissue as a cheap liner.]
- shirts: at least three times [sprinkle a little talcum powder and its set to be worn again]
- pants: at least five times
- socks: one week [so what if it smells bad? not many people are as short as your knees to smell them]
-jeans: 2 months
[You can sun all your clothing daily without washing them first, after all sunlight is free]
*Important Note*
Recommendation does not mean it's truly practical, nor does it mean that the author practices all of the above.

2. Don't go out so often.
[Unless with parents, generous friends and people who have the supply to squander because they tend to foot the bill]
If you desparately need to, no problem. Indulge in activities that does not require money.
For example: window shopping, walking your dog, taking the parcourse in the park, gatecrashing parties, sleepovers et cetera.

3. Go on a diet.
This way, you get to save money on food as well as shed the extra pounds.
[If you're super skinny, go on a carbohydrate diet. Cheap carbs are available in most places]

4. Download your movies and music off the net.
[Illegal, illegal. Sorry, sorry. This is the world wide web. It's not wise to encourage such things eh.]
4. Free essential entertainment
Get your movies and music from YouTube. :D
Or borrow them DVDs from your friends' library.
Or be your own drama queen; it's free entertainment for everyone.

5. Quit going to cyber cafes.
Computer games? Forget it, why fight with your fingers when you can do that with your fist.
[If you can fix the fight you may make some cash.]
Stick to UNO cards, congkak, snake and ladders, chess and checkers.
No internet access? Go to your friend's house la. Or hack your neighbour's internet connection.

6. Gifts
Take A4 paper and your colour pencils out. Get in touch with your creative side and voila!
A happy birthday/christmas/wedding/happy divorce/single again card!
After all, it's the thought that counts, no?

7. Say bye bye to sms-ing over 50 messages and making over 10 phonecalls per day.
USE INSTANT MESSENGER. or your father's handphone. or your mother's handphone. or your friend's handphone. :D
Learn to read smoke signals and do it the Sioux[Native American] way.

Whipping Out Oreo Cheesecakes

Pay Leng slept over on Wednesday and so we thought hard on what to do on Thursday.

Pay Leng suggested we make cheesecake. Oreo cheesecake. I love Oreo. *slurps*

Dad drove mom's car to work because his own was away to be repaired so that left us only with a driver [my brother] but no car. Therefore, my brother had to switch from driver to bodyguard for a walk down bakery lane. :D

We took to the shops nearby to get the ingredients we need. However, they carry everything but one. They have to run out of whipped cream so we had to walk further to the shoplots near the overhead bridge but they had no whipped cream either; so we ended up walking all the way to Jusco for the final ingredient. Talk about whipping out an appetite.

We wanted to take a cab back from Jusco but it was RM 8 just to pass the overhead bridge I was talking about.
Janna: Yea okay, let's take the cab.
Jonan [my brother]: Wah! 8 bucks just to pass the bridge? I'd rather walk la like that.
Taxi driver: Up to you la! You walk la!
*brother starts walking*
*Janna actually felt like whacking her brother for not taking the freaking cab for one long second*
But Janna didn't want to take the cab either because the driver was rude and made us look like we needed him and gave us the 'you'd die if I don't drive you' look; so we walked.

On the way back.

We got the recipe off a site.
http://www.malaysianbabes.net/forum/lofiversion/index.php/t14690.html

Ingredients:
Base
120 g crushed oreo biscuit
70 g unsalted butter
Filling
120 g castor sugar
250 g cream cheese
2 oreo biscuits
150 g whipped cream
1 tablespoon of gelatin
80 ml full cream milk

We began by separating the oreo biscuits from the cream. The cream is to be used for the filling later on.
The butter was added to the crushed oreo biscuits and was properly mixed.

Then, we spread it evenly onto the pan.

This is what it looked like.

Into the fridge it goes.

Next, the filling.

The cream cheese and castor sugar was put into the mixer to be beaten till smooth.
Then, we added the whipped cream, bits of oreo biscuit and oreo cream.

The mixture

Pay Leng, whipped cream and I

The milk and gelatin was heated in a pot and constantly stirred till it thickened.

The mixture was then added into the mixer.

Once the whole thing was mixed smoothly, we poured it onto the base evenly.
It was then left to chill in the fridge for about three hours and voila! Oreo cheese cake!

That night itself, Yung Yao came over and had the chance to taste the cake.
He decided that we should make it again the very next day.
So we did.
This time, Yung Yao drove me out to buy ingredients. Thank God.
Yung Yao wanted to make two so we doubled most of the ingredients.

This is the first one Yung Yao, Jia Yao, my brother and I made.

The second one looks okay for the first 5 minutes out of the refrigerator and was still edible but you may need to slurp it. After 5 minutes it looked like Oreo Goo with a biscuit base. Thanks to Mr. Unrecipe, Jia Yao who added about 50 g more of whipped cream. We should crack the whip on someone.

Lesson learnt: When you add or minus anything from the recipe you need to consider texture and taste.

A Jag In The Family

When Jet Black had gone to Dog Heaven, dad said," Okay, we can have another dog only if it's small and has short fur."

What breed suits such description better than a chihuahua?

So we got a chihuahua!

And it's SO adorable!

Dad wanted to name it Jolly and immediately, I objected.
Just like how I objected when dad wanted to name Justice, Jingle.
:S

We went through a whole list of names and ended up naming the little thing...

JAGUAR
:D

No, it does not have an inferiority complex as in a small dog needing a big name.
We're just running out of appropriate and nice names beginning with J.
