Chinese New Year EVE

Reporting from Singapore.

Chinese New Year eve for 2009 was a Sunday so we started the day by attending church. Dad was invited to preach in Eternal Life Church, Singapore. The service was good.

Dad, preaching.

From left: brother, ME, sister, mom, dad, uncle.

We had lunch with one of the church members.
After that my sister and I were suppose to follow Sarah and Deborah [my cousins] to their youth service but we were so tired we didn't make it.
Instead, I lazed around and was finally able to read through False Impressions by Jeffrey Archer as well as blog and so on.
Sarah returned, wanting to stab a knife into my stomach and pull the weapon all the way up to my throat and then serve me as stew for the reunion dinner. Okay, that was extremely exaggerated.
But she was very upset we didn't go.

Anyway, I then finally got the chance to meet...

*drum roll*
MY SECOND COUSIN, FAITH ELIZABETH LOH.

Isn't she so tremendously cute?

Okay, moving on to the reunion dinner.
We had the reunion dinner at Grandma Margaret's place.
And oh, it was Grandma Margaret's birthday too.
[which reminds me, it was Jia Yao's birthday too]
so HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO BOTH. =)

From left: Aunty Julia, Uncle Andrew, brother and Judith [my cousin]

*sings* Food, glorious food~

Ah, a picture of me stuffing myself which is not a surprise, I'm sure.

I spent a lot of time eating and taking pictures.

As you can see.

Bonding time with cousins.

Japhia, ME, Sarah and Deborah.

While eating, my cousins started clicking away with their cameras.
Knowing how very not photogenic I am, I had to hide my face or they might use ugly pictures to blackmail me one day.

This was my solution.

After too manymanymany shots, I gave in.

Sarah likes playing colour accent with the camera.
This is how it works: you pick a colour and the camera detects most hints of that colour and voila!
As you can see, Sarah chose green.

Random picture.

After dinner, we played Guitar Heroes World Tour on the Wii.

ME with the microphone and Sarah.

Then we went swimming at night. :D

Coming up soon: Chinese New Year and...everything else. :)

PS: Happy birthday to Joanna Khoo. =) *HUGS*

Quintessential Goof

Friday was Installation Day for Methodist Girls' School. My last Installation Day.

Me receiving my badge.

I didn't completely enjoy it so I shall not even whisk you through the event. I'll just skip to the most fun part of the day.

Carynne and I had the sudden urge for goofy poses.
Perhaps because it wasn't too happy a day and being goofy makes people hilariously happy...at times.

Contagious? You be the judge.

From left: Ryn, ME, Shi Yun and Wei Li

More goofs.

From left: Putt, Ryn, Kim, Jean, ME and Gwyn

And then to many others.

Some of the form 5 prefects.

Group picture.

I suppose there's no cure.
Goofism is now the norm.

Coming up next: Singapore!

[this picture is to make up for all the goofism. not fair la always put up all the embarrassing pictures only right? lol]

Inspiration Revisited

NEW POEM. Finally.

SPM k.o. PMR

Differences I've noticed so far between my PMR year and this SPM year:

PMR year
Homework is completed either the day before due date or on the due date itself.
SPM year
Homework mostly done on the day the homework was given itself and completion is subject to capability and comprehension.

PMR year
Free period: *YAK YAK YAK*
SPM year
Free period: Do homework.

PMR year
Seniors say: PMR eh? Easy la.
Janna says: EASY?! You got straight As sure easy la!
SPM year
Juniors [PMR candidates]: Aish, got PMR!
Janna says: Aiyo, peanuts la.

PMR year
*Janna sets alarm at 6.07 to catch the bus at 6.20*
*wakes up at 6.07*
Thinks to self, "Aiya, still early. Sleep one more minute," then misses the bus.
SPM year
*Janna sets alarm at 5.23 to catch the bus at 5.45* BUT an alarm rings at 5.10 am.
"CHE CHE, WAKE UP!" my sister is heard yelling.
*groans* "MY alarm not yet ring also," I would mutter.
The moment MY alarm rings, "CHE CHE, WAKE UP NOW!" Japhia would command me.
"One more minute!" I plead and that is all I get. If only I could whizz out of my clothes to the bathroom and into my uniform in a minute, I would set MY alarm at 5.44a.m.

PMR year
"Mom, I need to destress," I would reason and negotiate.
*Janna watches TV, goes online, goes out A LOT for fun and entertainment et cetera*
SPM year
"Wanna go Jusco?" mom asks.
"Nope, too much homework and housework, too little time."

PMR year
"Sleepy...darn sleepy. Ah heck! I don't care." *z-zzzzzZzzzzz-z*
SPM year
"SLEEPY!" *sprays water at self*
[Yes, I have a spray bottle on the side to spray my face when sleepy. It's super effective. Or at least for the moment it still is.]

PMR year
"What the heck is the teacher talking about? Don't care la."
SPM year
"HUH? WAIT! WHAT? WHY? Teacher, I DON'T UNDERSTAND!"

SPM can ruin lives. I bet you would want to give it a miss. It's no fun. I just want to hang loose; not on a noose.

200-What?

I'm running late, HAPPY NEW YEAR PEOPLE. :D

School is back and it's smack!
I LOVE SCHOOL. Seriously. =)
Weird, I know but don't you?

Somehow, going back to school really makes me smile.
Just like the picture below.

Eh? Sorry, wrong picture.

These are the nice school-makes-me-smile ones:

See how awesome going back to school is?

Okay, I'll stop being antithetical with the pictures.

The year end holidays felt more like a weekend break. It certainly did not help usher in enthusiasm for the new year.
The late nights during the holidays made it difficult for me to adjust to waking up around 5.20 in the morning to catch the bus that comes at 5.45 a.m.
So for the past couple of days in school have been a self-slapping session.
Yes, I've been slapping myself awake because it's really not wise to sleep in class when it comes to teachers with eyes even at the back of their heads and they could dish out an equally horrendous penance.
Bright side: natural blush?

ON A HAPPIER NOTE:
Starting from this year, I will thank God for at least one thing everyday.
And do what makes me REALLY smile.

Lingam edited: It looks like me, sounds like me, could be me BUT it may not be me.
