My Series of Unfortunate Events

Beware the Ides of March!

The days before the March holiday:

1. Cupboard

I bent over and my head bumped onto the metal latch.

Nevermind. The whole left door came off and fell on my head.
*nursed conspicuous bump on forehead* :S

2. Toaster

I wanted to toast bread. Set it for about 3 minutes. 10 minutes later, I have burnt bread and burnt toaster. Toaster jammed at 3 minutes and still burning.
* threw out the burnt toast and toaster*

3. Bathroom

Was taking a shower. Minutes later I realized the water level has risen to about 1.5 cm from the bathroom floor. Drainage clogged.
*waded in scum and called dad for help*

During the March holiday:

4. Toothbrush

I forgot to bring my toothbrush to DC.
*I can't tell you how I solved this problem. :P*

5. Wallet

Got stolen on the first day of DC.
*
no I.C. and no money*

6. Phone

Got stolen on the second day of DC.
*incommunicado*

Pastors' Kids' Retreat was on the 16th - 19th of March in Pulai Heights Resort, Johor.

Totally clashes with my youth camp which was on the 15th - 18th of March so I was torn between both.

Then dad came up with a BRILLIANT plan.

Dad's plan:-
Go for church youth camp then from there, get to LCCT and take a budget flight to Johor.
It sounded good. It meant I could have supposedly the best of both worlds.

To check in for our flight and stuff, I needed my IC. which went on a missing trip together with my wallet while in Discovery Camp.

7. The oh-so-
ulu Fraser's Hill police station isn't authorized to certify the police report.

8.
I had to go Raub to do the report which is NOT on the way to KL.

So I did the police report in Kota Kubu instead so that I can carry the ceritfied document for identification purposes immediately.

When we got to the airport, my sister and I settled for an ice blended mocha at Coffee Bean, then went to check in.

9. I couldn't find the counter with the letters J-O-H-O-R.

So I asked some AirAsia guy.

Here's how the conversation went:
Janna: Excuse me, may I know where to check in for the flight to Johor?
AirAsia guy: Johor?!?!
Janna: Yes, there's a flight at 7.55 right?
AirAsia guy: Let me see that.
*shows AirAsia guy the online flight ticket*
AirAsia guy: Wait, let me ask.
*off AirAsia guy goes then comes back after a while*

-this is where number 10. comes in-

AirAsia guy: The flight is in the morning laa.
Janna: HUH?!?!
AirAsia guy: You see, it's 7.55 a.m. Means in the morning.
Janna: *understanding deepens*
AirAsia guy: We follow international time. If 0755 means in the morning.
Janna: YES, YES, I see it, I see it. Ohgosh! Dad is SO AWESOME.
Japhia: Means?
Janna: WE MISSED THE FLIGHT! DAD BOOKED MORNING TICKETS.
Japhia: *speechless*

My regret: I didn't do a personal check and took all standing instructions as correct.
Lesson learnt: Don't take anything or anyone for granted. Dad is getting old.

So mom had to call Uncle Desmond to transfer us to KLIA to catch the last MAS flight for Johor.

This was taken while I was waiting in the car at KLIA, fidgeting, while my sister and uncle check the
availability of the tickets.

Thank God.

At least I managed to catch up with friends and so on.
Highlight: Played hide and seek at night and I never got found.
Downside: Easy target for 18 hits from mosquitoes.

It was fun. =)

=)

*enjoying the comfort of Pulai Resort*

This is how it's done when you haven't got your room key.

*while the warm, clear running water fills the bathtub*

Heaven.

I just touched base and it was already time to say goodbye. :(

You The Leader

From the 15th to the 18th of March, I was in Fraser's Hill for my church youth camp.

It's also known as the little England with Tudorbethan facade .
BUT this place darn ulu.

Stayed at Pine Resort.

We got to see plenty of monkeys.

MONKEY!

And wild boars too.

WILDBOAR!

Eh wait...oh. No, that's Nicky. But we did see wild boars. =)

On the way...

New found lovers, Su Zhou and Dhanaraj.

Meditations by Su Zhou and Nicky

Theme: You The Leader

Camp was very different compared to previous years. Normally, we'd have crazy games but not this time.

This time we had tasks, very similar to The Apprentice [hosted by Donald Trump].

Here's task 3 out of the 4 tasks we were given:

My team, Shidoubu [which means ''leader' in Japanese] rocks. :D

Worship sessions were conducted by the band, Almost Alive from Australia.

Sermons were shared by the leaders:
1. Terrence
2. Wing Yin
3. Clarice
4. Gurcharan
5. Phui Han
6. Joong Harn

Forfeit sessions were conducted by Terrence.
[You get forfeited bending rules.]
Featuring Forfeits...

Japhia goes *shake shake*

Box of sweets taped to forehead. You are to shake your head and the one who produces the loudest sound wins. Hmmm...they say empty vessels make the most noise.

The Sabrina shake.

Without hands, one have to feed the other Milo.

A transparent sheet is smothered with chocolate paste. Another handless feat by two forfeitees, trying to clean up the sheet.

[One of the pairs had the opportunity to taste each other's tongue. Serious. :P]

Wing Yin with an ab wheel.

Random moments of camp:

Arm wrestling.

Naomi [from band] vs. Clarice

Winner: Clarice

Lachlan vs. Clarice

Winner: Clarice

Moral of the story: Size does not matter.

Okay, that was just the position they started off with.
Winner: Lachlan

Last but not least, FRIENDS. =)

Philip with the harmonica.

From left: Su Zhou, Saby, Joses, ME and Nicky.

From left: Josiah, Philip, Qing, ME and Jacob.

THE QING AND I:

Apart from my stolen wallet and phone, all was good.

Coming up next is a little misadventure. =)

My Kind of Rockstar

Sorry I haven't been updating lately. Been uber busy and scuttling about thanks to my rather hectic schedule.
Abstract: My faith is in the Rock, the Cornerstone, Jesus Christ. I'm just having fun with this one. Between Creator and creation, there is no comparison.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I SAW A SHOOTING STAR AROUND 6.30a.m. - 6.40 a.m. ON THE 24TH OF FEBRUARY 2009 while taking a breather at the grounds of my alma mater.

Okay, in other words - a meteoroid, falling diagonally across a dark indigo pre-dawn sky.

Obviously, what I saw wasn't this pretty larr.

I. was. not. hallucinating.
I PROMISE.

It's not impossible anyway because meteoroids burn in the atmosphere and falls to the Earth as dust. According to research, approximately 3000 metric tons of dusty space material falls to Earth everyday.

Okay...maybe [and JUST MAYBE] it isn't what I think it is but I am 99.999% sure it was a 'shooting star' and not some orbital debris by the name of Kosmos-2251 and Iridium 33.

So what did I do?

I did the most cliche thing of all cliches - I made a wish.

In fact, I was so darn smart that I combined all the wishes beyond even dreams into one general wish. :D I doubt its potency but yeah, 'nice try'. LOL.

And no, I'm not telling you what I wished for.
Retrospectively, something good has happened and more will follow if it goes according to what I wished for. :P
