To the Highlands for Bethel

On the 21st of December, the whole family went on a day trip to Cameron Highlands since dad was invited to preach for a morning and night session for Bethel Church Youth Camp.

I. hated. the. journey.

The camp was held in Chefoo Methodist Centre which I'm familiar with.
Held within the labyrinth of its grounds and structure are some of my fondest childhood memories.

It was the place Andrea, Joanna, Yung Yao and I played the Mad Game and had just too much fun.
It was the place Shekinah and I made friends.
It was the place where we sang "Walk, walk, walk, walk in the light. Pling plang!" thanks to Kennard who is a natural at percussion.
It was the place where my childhood friends and I got ourselves entangled among the bushes but pretended we were in a maze.
It was the place where I smelt and tasted delicious shortbread.
It was the place where I tried my first frozen fresh strawberry ice lolly.
It was the place where the boys played ball and in the process, managed to get it flying towards my direction..or more accurately, my head.
It was also the place that appeared in my dream before I ever step foot into it. Il est Déjà vu!

The moment we arrived, it was time for the morning session.
Once that had ended, a telematch was next on the schedule.

So while they had fun, I fidgeted with my camera.

After the telematch, I had personal tutoring on photography from Jeanette.

[Shoutout to Jeanette: THANK YOUUU. :) ]

Daddy volunteered to be my model.

I know, I know. It's a miracle the camera is still intact and working.

We went out for a drive around the tea gardens.
The scenery is just breathtaking.

Campanula is common in the highlands.

Refreshing green tea slopes

The tea estate

The shoot of the shrub

...and someone had to shoot a pic while I pick a shoot.

Dad tried to play hide and seek.
Unfortunately, he's pretty hard to miss. LOL.

I think Japhia is awfully photogenic. Don't you agree?

Eating sweet potato balls is on the 'Must-Do List'.

After that, we stopped by the cactus farm.

Dad and I playing among the flowers.

The cacti certainly caught our attention.

They were...

outstanding...

and bizarre.

The hot twin pricks.

Our last stop was Bala's Holiday Inn for Tea and Scones. Another 'Must'.

Tudorbethan structure and design.

Daddy then decided that he would show me how to take REAL pictures.

So he took the camera from me and started snapping away, in a purely professional fashion.

Then he passes me the camera and I was awestruck by his creativity and talent.

Below are all the pictures he took:

He ooozes raw talent. A Picasso in photography.

Anybody want to hire him?

:S

This is Japhia making steely brace marks through the scone.
I just love my Robocop sister. :)

We returned in time for dinner and after the night session, off we went.

I. hated. the. journey. back. even. more.
*mumbles*

[Shoutout: Thank you for the camp shirts! :) ]

Asia Pacific Youth Alive Conference

Event: Asia Pasific Youth Alive Conference [APYAC]
Date: 10th to 12th of December 09
Venue: Glad Tidings PJ

It's most rapturous seeing 1500 plus delegates of 29 nations uniting for a purpose.

For all have come to impact the regions beyond and speak to the nations with our lives.

To those of you who didn't attend, I hate to say this but YOU MISSED OUT BIG TIME!

Why APYAC was soooooo awesome:

1. The performances were astounding as well as enthralling.

Liang ministered with two exuberant numbers.

Cultural performance by the team from Fiji.

A most animated performance by the team from Japan.

And their grand finale.

Cultural dance presentation by the team from Indonesia.

Cultural presentation by the team from Bangladesh.

Solo offering by Juwita Suwito.

Mike Pilavachi surprised us with his outstanding rendition of Goodbye Love.
His singing was SO AWFULLY inspirational.
He makes me think that the key to singing is off-key.
People, if Mike Pilavachi can sing, SO CAN EVERYONE ELSE.

His screen presence is axiomatic.

See what I mean?

2. The praise and worship sessions were definitely riveting.

Brad and Rebekah from US led most worship sessions with praises.

Rebekah

 Brad

Our very own Youth Alive band resonate in praise and worship.

 The troop from Indonesia.

There was also a band from Philippines.

They were all amazingly tight.

Their synergy is contagious and the presence of God was awesome.

3. All the speakers [who should double up as inspiring comedians]

They had powerful messages to convey and I just loved their inspiring and infusing sessions.

 Mike Pilavachi with outstanding Afro.

"You call that pathetic patch on your head hair?" he said, "THIS is what I call hair."

All the spontaneous banter among the speakers galvanized laughter.
Even the aftermath is as potent. I personally cracked up to their raillery .

 Pastor Victor Wong

He got us rocking and rolling to US #1 Billboard Hot single (1963) 'I Will Follow Him' by Peggy March (15 yr. old singing prodigy).

The best part: Follow the leaders that joined him on stage.

 Almost vaudeville but simply hilarious!
Note: the one in the middle is Pastor Nobu from Japan and is a potential professional butt writer.

4. God's presence.

It was most astounding to witness and join believers from 29 nations unite to worship the Holy Trinity.

The splendour of the conference; God's awesome and powerful presence.

5. FAMILY AND FRIENDS.
